Springsure

Springsure, located in the southern area of the central highlands, lies on the Gregory and Dawson Highways approximately 65km south of Emerald. The town, surveyed in the 1860's originally grew around a series of woolsheds from early settlers, however today is the centre for local beef and wool industries. By having Mt Zabia (features the prominent Virgin Rock) as a unique backdrop, set in a brilliant valley and having a well looked after town centre, Springsure is one of the highlights of central Queensland. Also in the area are Canrarvon National Park (100km south) and Lake Maraboon (50km north) which is a popular recreational area.
