Angaston, the third largest Barossa Valley town, lies at the foothills of the Barossa Range. The town, unlike much of the Barossa Valley had British heritage as it was settled on land occupied by George Fife Angas who set up the town to attract English and German immigrants. The town itself is excellent - the meandering main street has many fine historic buildings standing, shady parklands abutting Angaston Creek and set against a series of rolling hills. In the area are several wineries with most open daily for wine tasting as well as scenic Menglers Hill nearby (5km south).
