Main South Road (Fleurieu Way) & Dudley Road

The B23 essentially provides the link from Adelaide to the northern Fleurieu Peninsula & Kangaroo Island as well as being one of only 2 routes in Australia that traverses a significant body of water. The B23 starts at Old Noarlunga at the fringe of Adelaide's southern suburbs where it intersects with the A13 (Victor Harbor Road). It continues along Main South Road (recently dubbed as the Fleurieu Way) bypassing Aldinga and Sellicks Beach before winding its way through the southern Mt Lofty Ranges into the small town of Myponga. From Myponga, the B23 continues south-west passing through rich, hilly dairy and sheep farming areas to the popular coastal twin towns of Yankalilla and Normanville before reaching the end of the Fleurieu Peninsula at Cape Jervis. The journey on the B23 continues from Penneshaw on Kangaroo Island, of which can be reached from Cape Jervis several times daily via the vehicle and passenger Sealink ferry (booking recommended). Continuing south-west from Penneshaw, the B23 traces Dudley Road around Nepean Bay and American River before joining the Playford Highway at Cygnet River, then heads east to terminate in Kangaroo Island's principal town of Kingscote. Certainly a great drive - some excellent scenery along the north coast of the Fleurieu Peninsula as well as on Kangaroo Island.
