Beechworth

Beechworth, a historic town in the north-eastern gold fields region. The town is superb, catering quite well for tourists - it contains wide streets with several historic buildings dating back to the 1850's gold rush including galleries, a massive bakery, confectionery shop and other specialty shops. The town lies on several small hills, superb green settings and its town centre is attractive and very inviting for the visitor. Also in town is picturesque Lake Sambell, Beechworth Historic Park, the Chinese Burning Towers and Mt Pilot (15km north) offers a great vantage point. A highly recommended destination.
