Gisborne is a picturesque town, lies at the southern foothills of Mount Macedon and on the banks of Jacksons Creek just off from the Calder Freeway. The area was originally a Cobb and Co coach stop for the travellers heading north-west to the goldfields in Bendigo and Castlemaine but it eventually grew into a township. Nowadays, Gisborne is the centre for the local dairying and fruit growing industries. The town itself has a neat, colourful shopping precinct with several parks (including the Botanic Gardens) adjoining Jacksons Creek with much of the town set in a natural "sinkhole" similar to nearby Bacchus Marsh.
