Pakenham is a rapidly growing large town located on the Princes Highway, about 60km south-east of Melbourne. The town is set on open, flat green acres with the eastern Dandenong Ranges providing a great northerly backdrop. Once a small town to serve the local dairying industry, the area has undergone immense population growth in the last 10-15 years as Pakenham provides good, clean country living despite Melbourne remaining only a short drive away due to the continual improvements along the Princes Freeway. The town centre is quite impressive - the main street is tree-lined, well looked after with a great shopping precinct. Also in town are the Nestle Factory, the Wallis Memorial Gardens with a great vantage point nearby from the Cardinia Shire Office complex.
