Port Fairy

Port Fairy is a small town located on the Princes Highway between Warrnambool and Portland, against the Southern Ocean. The town is known for its fishing (crayfish and abalone especially) and tourism as the town is very popular in the summer months due to its safe swimming and surfing beaches. The town is quite spectacular - surrounded almost totally by Norfolk Pines and has an interesting town centre, with many quaint shops and several historic buildings. Apparently the original name for the town was called Belfast, but it was soon changed due to public opinion - what if the IRA knew about this! :-)
