2010 Embroidery Holidays
Following the success of the 2009 Needlework Journey Helen Haberland BFA UTAS & CC RSN UK, with full support & encouragement of Franklin House, National Trust TAS are delighted to offer another two, 2-week embroidery tour(s) of France & England for 8 participants who are welcome to join either tour or both.
5th September - 19th September
Price offers 5 days stitching with the Royal School of Needlework, & being chauffeur driven with a regional driver guide & host Mr Harold Brown, an Australian who offers twin share accommodation in a delightful B & B in Royal Tunbridge Wells. Consideration is for everyone’s wellbeing and comfort, especially those with health inconveniences. Visit Hampton Court Palace, Penshurst Place, Ightham Moat, Sissinghurst Castle, Knole, Chartwell, Canterbury Cathedral, Leeds Castle, York Minster & City, Durham City, St Cuthbert’s stole; spend a day with Tracy Franklin, lastly Hardwick Hall & their textile treasures.
Tour Two: France 19th September – 2nd October
2 weeks in France with contemporary art embroiderer Val Holmes in Luçon. Workshops with Val, who has her masters from Manchester University start with visits to places for ideas (i.e. architecture or gardens) where participants are asked to draw or take photographs of scenes and objects that will inspire a piece of embroidery in contemporary or abstract design. Comfortable full hospitality, delicious meals, every convenience & Val as our driver treats us to day trips including a long weekend in Bayeux. View the Bayeux tapestry, stay in a convent, visit Monet’s garden & Villandry estate before Angers; returning to Luçon & the second week of sightseeing and more fun embroidery days.

The French tour is the same price as last year with extra day trips included. $5,750 Aust. England. $6,900 Aust. (Added travel cost included)
