Profile

The history of the British Shorthair is well documented on the Web and in many book publications. I have added some links for those who are interested in knowing the history of these fascinating cats.

The British Shorthair in Australia is one of the most popular breeds of today, mainly because of their Teddy Bear appearance and their wonderful temperaments.

There are about 37 different colours and coat patterns in the British Shorthairs. But not all available in Australia and some are in the early stages of development.

I can produce about 8 different colour combinations in the Solids and Patched which are: Blue, Black, Cream, Blue Cream, Blue and White, Cream and White, Black and White, Blue/Cream and White and hopefully Harlequins this year.

My introduction into breeding cats was with Persians many years ago, until my last Persian died at the age of 19 years old. My whole family was lost without the company of a cat in the house, so I embarked in the hunt for the perfect cat and found it in the British Shorthair.

I have been breeding British Shorthairs since 1990 and have loved them ever since.

I moved from Sydney to the Central Coast NSW in 1997. Sydney was getting too crowded and I craved the quiet life. So I bought five acres, built a new house and cattery.

My cats now live in a beautiful house of their own in a good clean safe environment. My good friend Carolynne Power was a great help to me, as to what was required for good cattery management. Her husband John is an Architect and he designed the cattery and house for me. I am indebted to both of them for all their assistance.

I sell my babies mostly as pets, because that's what I want. I prefer them to enjoy life in a nice loving comfortable home, to be spoilt and treated like one of the family and to be kept safely indoors.

When my babies leave home they go with a complete kitten pack which includes: Fresh Beef, Canned Food, Kitten Milk, Kitten Biscuits, Kitty Litter, Pet Toy, Information Sheets and Diet Charts.

All kittens are at least 10 weeks when they leave home. They are NSW CFA registered, vaccinated, microchipped, wormed, bathed and claws clipped.

All my cats are vaccinated. All breeding adults are blood grouped and have been tested and negative for: PKD, Aids and Leukaemia.

I welcome visitors who would like to see my cats and cattery. I am only too pleased to answer any questions about British Shorthairs and always give backup help after a kitten has left home.
