BRANSCOMBE

My wife's grandmother, Sarah Elizabeth BRANSCOMBE, was born in Mudgee, NSW, AUS, in 1857.
She was the daughter (8th of 9 children) of William BRANSCOMBE (BEAVIS) (born 1825 Withycombe Raleigh, Devon, England; d.1895 Mudgee, NSW) & Ann DAVEY (b.1820 Stockland, Devon, England; d. 1900 Mudgee, NSW). William & Ann had married in St.Helier, Jersey, Channel Islands in 1842, where 6 children were born : Mary Ann (1843-1926), (?) (1844-1844), Charlotte (b. 1846), (?) (1847-1847), Henry William (1850-1928) & Jane Louisa (b. 1853).

They migrated to Australia in 1854 and settled in Mudgee, NSW, where he was a Tinsmith. They had another 3 children at Mudgee, NSW : Alice (b. 1856), Sarah Elizabeth (1857-1944) & George James (1861-1866).

William BRANSCOMBE was the son of Mary Ann BRANSCOMBE & Josiah Knight BEAVIS, who married in 1827 at Withycombe Raleigh, Devon, England.  Mary Ann was the daughter of William BRANSCOMBE (1752-1833) & Sarah HAYMEN (1763-1843).
