ABOUT OUR PATRON
CAROLINE O'CONNOR

It is with great pleasure we announce that Caroline O’Connor has kindly accepted our invitation to become Patron of the St George Eisteddfod Inc.

Caroline grew up in Rockdale and attended Bexley Primary School and St George Girls High School in Kogarah, and although she now spends a considerable amount of time working and touring major cities in Europe and the USA, she still feels a deep affinity with the St George area.

Her busy schedule has taken her to London, New York, Edinburgh, Sydney, Melbourne, Paris, Toronto and Wales, where she has successfully appeared in productions of Man of La Mancha, Piaf, Chicago, West Side Story, Showboat, Into the Woods, Damn Yankees, Baby, A Chorus Line, Talent, Salt of the Earth, Mack and Mabel, Romance Romance, Street Scene, Matador, Hot Stuff, Budgie, The Rink, Cabaret, Is There Life After High School, Me and My Girl and most recently in 2005-6 End of the Rainbow production in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and the Edinburgh Festival in Scotland.

Caroline was the winner of the Best Actress in a Play 2001 Green Room Awards, Helpman Awards and Mo Award for her performance in the one woman play, Bombshells. Her most recent achievement was the Winner of Best Actress 2005 Sydney Theatre Award. Caroline has also performed solo with Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide Symphony Orchestras, recorded numerous solo CDs, and starred in the film productions of Moulin Rouge and De-Lovely.

The St George Eisteddfod welcomes Caroline’s input and experience, and we are grateful for her support in fostering young Australian talent.
