GENERAL  RULES & CONDITIONS

A. All sections shall be open to amateurs only. An amateur shall be defined as any person the major portion of which whose income is not derived from the exercise of his/her talents in the particular section for which he or she is entered. This rule shall not apply to conductors or accompanists.

1. Where age is specified the age shall be taken as CLOSING DATE OF THEIR CATEGORY. (see Individual categories).

2. There must be at least 5 Competitors in a section , otherwise the section may be cancelled or combined with next age group. The Committee has the right to either combine or divide sections depending on number of entries.

3. The Adjudicator’s decision is final.

4. The Committee reserves the right to appoint a substitute or additional Adjudicator if required.

5. A competitor who has been taught or advised by the adjudicator in the six months prior to the opening date of the relevant section/s shall not be eligible to compete.

6. No person will be permitted to speak to the adjudicator or approach the adjudicator’s table,
except the Committee members

7. The Committee reserves the right to withhold the award if, in the adjudicator’s opinion ,a satisfactory standard of merit is not attained. The Committee reserves the same authority to alter the value of prizes where because of lack of competition such a change is warranted.

8. Competitors compete entirely at their own risk. No responsibility will be taken for accident, injury or lost property of any competitor or member of the audience.

9. PAYMENTS

(a) All modes of payment to be made out to St George Eisteddfod Inc.
Stamps will not be accepted as payment, nor will cash.

(b) No entries will be accepted unless accompanied by:
FULL FEES
COMPLETED DISCLAIMER FORM (on Entry Form)
(c) Entries must be forwarded to the RLEVANT CONVENOR
By due date
NO REFUND OF FEES unless section is cancelled by the Eisteddfod Committee.

10. This Eisteddfod does not provide for: On line Entries or Payments OR Faxed entries

11. In sections where two or more competitors are competing in combination no competitor may compete more than ONCE in the same capacity. Competitors in GROUPS may enter only TWICE in the same section.

12. Competitors are requested to PRINT THEIR NAMES & ADDRESSES CLEARLY on entry
also provide Teacher’s NAMES & ADDRESSES & PHONE NUMBERS , EMAIL


13. Competitors may NOT appear in section other than those specified in their accepted Entry form
The Committee has the right to refuse an entry.

14. Official Entry Forms ,photocopies or Internet Entry Form to be used, otherwise entry will not be accepted


15. The St George Eisteddfod Inc accepts no responsibility for unauthorised copy materials by entrants and assumes that no copyright law has been infringed. This Eisteddfod is registered with A.P.R.A. A.M.C.O.S. and P.P.C.A. and C.A.L.

16. Competitors waiting their turn will show consideration by remaining quiet while others are competing.

17. (a) When the Eisteddfod is being held in school halls etc or any other venue all competitors must remain where the Eisteddfod is being held.

(b) Parents/Guardians to be responsible for the actions and behaviour for both competitors and others in their care whilst on the premises of venues used by Eisteddfod.

18. Parents or teachers are not allowed on stage with competitor, except where they are performing an official duty or acting in the capacity of an accompanist

19. Prompting of any kind will not be given to the competitors, except by the Adjudicator

20. Loud yelling and barracking from the audience is regarded to be intimidating, it will not be tolerated and may result in disqualification

21. Any person or persons found to be intimidating any competitor, Committee or Volunteer will be made to leave the Theatre/Hall and may be barred from further attendance at this Eisteddfod

22 .Competitors not answering when called upon will forfeit their right to compete in that
Section ,subject to the right of appeal to a committee member who may, if she/he thinks fit and the opportunity can be found to allow defaulters to compete for the adjudicators report only. The programme will not be altered once the convenor has finalised all entries.

23. Liquor will not be allowed in any halls or grounds where the Eisteddfod is being held

24. NO PETS allowed in halls

25. TIME LIMIT; Where the time limit is set, competitors must not go over the specified time. The adjudicator has the right to ring the bell to signify the end of the performance, if the time is not observed.

26. All protests must be in writing and handed in within one hour of the completion of a section, accompanied with a fee of $20.00. The fee is forfeited if the protest is dismissed.

27. NO UNAUTHORISED USE OF VIDEOS, CAMERAS OR MOBILES ANY KIND TO BE USED IN THE HALLS AT THE REQUEST OF THE COMMITTEE AND COPYRIGHT LAWS

28. MOBILES AND PAGERS ARE TO BE SWITCHED OFF IN ALL VENUES.

29. PRE PAID SEASON TICKETS- These can only be PURCHASED IN THE STRIP OF 6 TICKETS AND WITH THE ENTRY FORM FOR COMPETITOR. These will be forwarded with your programme.


COPYRIGHT

IT IS IMPORTANT THAT ALL COMPETITORS AND TEACHERS REALISE THEIR RESPONSIBILITY REGARDING LAWS UNDER THE AUSTRALIAN COPYRIGHT ACT 1968
The following are the conditions that printed material can be used at this Eisteddfod

ADJUDICATOR’S COPY

(a) Set Pieces the adjudicator must work from an original

(b) Own Choice the competitor must supply the adjudicator with a photocopy provided that the original is used by the competitor for the performance and the Eisteddfod Committee destroys the copy immediately after adjudication.

COMPETITOR’S COPY
If the competitor is not performing from memory, an original or licensed photocopy must be used in the performance. This original can be borrowed from a library, friend or another competitor.

NEW RULINGS ON ACCOMPANIST’S COPY (AMCOS)
(excerpt from the “Practical Copyright Guide for the use of Print Music in Australia”,
clause 9.1)

The following conditions must be met before a photocopy can be made for an accompanist:
• The accompaniment part must be printed on the same page as the solo instrumental or vocal part(s) ie inseparable from the solo part.
• A single photocopy of the accompaniment may be made for use in a performance such as an Eisteddfod.
• Single copy must be marked with the words “ACCOMPANIST COPY”
• After the performance, the copy of the accompaniment must be handed to the Eisteddfod Organization for collection and all these copies sent to AMCOS at the conclusion of the Eisteddfod.

MAKING USE OF RECORDED MUSIC

It is the responsibility of the individual competitor (or the studio or school etc. to which they belong) to obtain the appropriate permission or licence for the making of recordings of copyright musical works where these recordings are used as a backing for their Eisteddfod entry.
