DANCING SECTIONS RULES

ALL GENERAL RULES MUST BE READ IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE FOLLOWING RULES .

1. Age will be taken as at CLOSING day of Dancing Entries in Eisteddfod1 1st MARCH 2010.Proof of age requires with entry, eg Birth Certificate. NOTE. If you have previously forwarded a copy of Birth Certificate there is no need to do so again, but please fill in appropriate details on ENTRY FORM. NOTE. You must complete and forward the DISCLAIMER FORM on the Entry Form, otherwise entry will not be accepted. This applies to every competitor whether Solo, Duo or GROUPS.

2. Groups must have a minimum of 5 dancers, A NEW GROUPS SECTION HAS BEEN
INCLUDED TO COVER GROUPS WITH A MINIMUM OF 4 AND A MAXIMUM OF 10 DANCERS.

3. SPECIALLY RESTRICTED SECTIONS. These sections are for those competitors who have never won a prize in any section anywhere.

4. RESTRICTED SECTIONS are for those who have never been placed 1st in that particular
Style of dance, if placed in Ballet and it’s related Categories example: If placed in a Ballet Dance, Demi Character, Contemporary or National Character then you must enter OPEN SECTION/S for these dances but are still eligible to compete in Tap or Jazz related categories in Restricted
BABIES DANCE. There are no restrictions on this section . If you have been placed in Babies Sections you are still eligible to compete in the restricted sections in this Eisteddfod.

5. No item may be repeated in Solo Sections. A change of Costume/Music does not constitute a new routine. CHAMPIONSHIP AND SCHOLARSHIP competitors may repeat one of their dances from Solo Sections.

6. Tapes/CD must be cued ready and clearly marked (only one item to be on each CD) with Competitor’s name, number and AMCOS/APRA number. They are to be presented to the Stage Manager or person in charge of Music prior to the commencement of the section. An official Cassette and CD player will be available. ONLY ONE TRACK ON EACH CD. DO NOT USE ReWRITABLE CD’S. They do not work in the machines. NO MICROPHONES TO BE USED IN ANY ITEM.

7. Props are to be kept to a minimum and must be removed immediately an item is finished.
They must not be left on the premises. The Eisteddfod accepts no responsibility for any loss or damage etc. Please, no messy props such as hay or loose paper. If using these items they must be completely covered and secured.


8. NO PRIVATELY OWNED VIDEOS, CAMERAS OR MOBILES OF ANY DISCRIPTION TO BE USED IN ANY HALL WHERE THE COMPETITION IS TAKING PLACE.THIS IS AT THE REQUEST OF THE ST GEORGE EISTEDDFOD COMMITTEE AND COPYRIGHT LAWS AND THE CHILD PROTECTION ACT.

9. No pointe shoes to be worn by competitors under the age of 12 years. Refer to sections.

10. Time Limits: These must be strictly adhered to, otherwise the item that goes overtime may be disqualified. Time starts on the 1st note of music etc and must finish if the bell is rung by timekeeper. The time limits include tags , if used.

11. Parents and /or Teachers must vacate the back stage area as soon as Music & Props have been placed on stage and prior to the commencement of any routine.

12. INAPPROPRIATE COSTUMING AND SUGGESTIVE MOVEMENTS IN ALL FORMS OF DANCE WILL NOT BE TOLERATED AND THE ADJUDICATOR HAS THE AUTHORITY TO ASK THAT THIS ITEM BE STOPPED IMMEDIATELY.

VOLUNTEERS

We urgently need some volunteers who are willing to give some time ( even a couple of hours) to help with the various positions that are required to help make this a successful Eisteddfod for your children to participate in.

Please contact the Dance Convenor approximately 3 weeks before the sections begin so that a roster can be made. Positions include Pencillers, Door, Backstage- Doing the numbers, music, giving out the prizes and even someone to collect the results after the section has finished. To see that the Adjudicator and Penciller have refreshments etc. and on Group Days to man the doors leading to the back stage area.

This will be a big year for the St George Eisteddfod, it will be our 90th Anniversary and we are endeavouring to make this a memorable year for all concerned. So please put this time of year into your diary now and we will inform you of what events we will be having

CONDITION S OF ENTRY

1. Open to all competitors in Open Sections of this Eisteddfod
2. Must have competed in 2 Open Sections pertaining to category of Scholarship entered.
3. May repeat Classical/Jazz from Open Section
4. Money to be used for TUITION ONLY

PRIZE MONEY

The Prize Money will be paid on receipt of your next Term Account, to be forwarded to St GEORGE EISTEDDFOD INC. C/- 2 Baden Powell Place, Winston Hills NSW 2153, by the Teacher/Studio or Winner/s
for the relevant amount used for classes in the particular Scholarship entered , namely Classical Ballet or Jazz
If any surplus owing to you after this Term Account ,then forward your next Account for reimbursement and money will be made available.

Cheques will be made PAYABLE TO Teacher/Studio.

Format for each Scholarship will be:
(a) A class taken on stage of approximately 1 hour
(b) A Classical or Jazz Solo, according to the Scholarship entered. Solos may be a repeat from Solo Section or a different routine.
