Before you actually receive any radiation therapy it is necessary for the radiation therapists to map out exactly the area of your body which is to receive treatment. In some cases, it might be necessary for the technicians to build a device or mould which will ensure that the treatment area remains stationary during the radiation. Those patients requiring treatment for head and neck cancers, or brain tumours, may require the construction of a special mask, which is illustrated below.
