Bahà'ì s of the Illawarra

The Bahà'ì Faith is an independent world religion and is among the fastest growing of the world's religions. It's world-wide community, numbering more than 5 million, includes every nation, ethnic group, culture, profession and social or economic class.

The Bahà'ì Faith is the fulfilment of God's ancient Promise to always protect and love His creation by sending Messengers or Manifestations, such as Krishna, Zoroaster, Buddha, Moses, Christ and Muhammad, to guide us.

Down through the ages each Messenger brings essentially the same spiritual teachings to help us know and love God, but each brings new social teachings for the age in which they come. Moses brought laws for the tribes, Christ laws for the individual, Muhammad laws for nationhood. Over a hundred and fifty years ago God sent a new Messenger, whose name was Bahà'u'llàh and he brought the laws to unite the world.

He has given us a vision of humanity as one people and the earth as one home.

THE WAY OF'LIFE Bahà'ìs seek to cultivate is one that encourages personal development. They believe that the purpose of this physical life is to develop spiritual qualities to help the soul's progress in the spiritual worlds beyond this earthly one.

Bahà'ìs Believe ...

  • all religions come from the One God - therefore Bahà'ìs celebrate the unity of the world's religions from a spiritual, cultural and historic background.
  • communities should be based on acceptance, not exclusivity.
  • there is hope for the future and have solutions that will work despite all the world's problems.
  • in independent investigation. It is a key to the Bahà'ì Faith and we welcome questions and encourage further reading.
  • that working together in unity and cooperation with all people will make the world a better place for now and the future.
  • in a systematic world administration, local, national and international which fosters global harmony through spiritual principles and laws to bring about the unity of humankind.
  • humanity has reached a new age of maturity, when we must accept responsibility for our own spiritual development.

Bahà'ìs see themselves as ordinary people with extraordinary goals, living in a time which is unique in the history of our planet.

"So powerful is the light of unity that it can illuminate the whole earth"
